Culinary Arts: Fun Cooking Classes

Appetizers and Tapas

One Night Class

NYC trained chef will demonstrate and teach how to prepare several types of appetizers and tapas.  We’ll cover where to purchase fresh ingredients, how to prepare foods, and which dishes go best with these great beginnings.  New recipes each class.  Hands-on class with time for tasting the prepared specialties.

Fee: $20 (plus $15 to instructor for cost of food)

Bread Making

One Night Course

Learn how to make specialty breads for everyday and celebrations!  We’ll cover the ingredients, how to knead, let rise, roll out dough, twist, braid, and design bread, from basic loaves to light Challah and other specialty breads.  Great parent-child activity (ages 9 and up).  Bread dough, yeast, and other materials provided.  Please bring a rolling pin, an apron, and containers to take home your creations.

Fee: $20 (Plus $20 to instructor for cost of dough, yeast, and other materials)

Cake Decorating

One Night Course

Learn how to make beautiful decorative cakes!  Great parent-child activity (ages 9 and up).  We’ll cover various pan shapes and ways to bake the cake, and then show how to create unique designs.  Experiment with different types of icings, techniques for frosting tips, and edible designs.  Make any special occasion more memorable.  Cake and decorations provided.  Please bring a rolling pin, any frosting tips you currently use, and an apron.  You’ll leave class with a boxed, 6-inch cake that you design!

Fee: $20 (Plus $25 to instructor for cost of 6-inch individual cake, icings, and other materials)

Cinnamon Sweet Rolls

New One Night Course

Want to make sticky sweet buns just like the pros?  We’ll share the secrets for baking cinnamon rolls from scratch- the ingredients, rolling and kneading, topping, and more.  These are sure to be a hit with your family and friends.  Great parent-child activity (ages 9 and up).  Dough, raisins, nuts, and other materials provided.  Please bring a rolling pin, an apron, and containers to take home your creations.

Cocktails for Entertaining (Martini Making and More)

One Night Course- Three Classes to Choose From!
Create exotic and fun drinks- martinis- that will make your next party a hit.  We’ll cover the ingredients, techniques (shaken vs. stirred) and supplies used for martinis in a light and enjoyable atmosphere.  There will be taste testing of the martinis and appetizers to help balance the martini palate.  Martini recipes provided, must be 21 or over.  Enroll early- class size limited- 3 dates to choose from.

Gnocchi Making

New One Night Course
Learn to make home-made gnocchi just like Grandma!  We’ll make and roll out the dough, with proper “pinching” technique, and experiment with fillings, both traditional and new twists.  Great parent-child class!

Locally Grown Foods- How to Cook to Perfection

One Night Course
Bucks County holds a bounty of locally grown and seasonal foods.  Learn to prepare and store fresh foods you can purchase locally at the peak of flavor. Celebrate the season by preparing a Bucks County farm-to-table dinner.  A fun class where we’ll also discuss where to purchase local foods (e.g., farmers’ markets, farm stands, and purveyors) and how to store them to best retain their nutrients and flavor.

Ricotta Cheesemaking

One Night Course
Fresh cheeses are surprisingly easy to make at home. Ricotta is no exception. And it's incredibly versatile, a great addition to savory and sweet dishes. Students will make whole milk ricotta, scooping and straining curds, then create lovely seasonal dishes using the freshly-made cheese.  Hands-on class.

VIP Wine Course

Whether you’re a wine novice or connoisseur, this afternoon at the beautiful Sand Castle Winery will be an enjoyable way to explore the art of wine.  Learn how to select a wine, read the label, choose from a wine list, store, decanter, and enjoy the wine at its best.  Visit the 30-foot deep underground wine cellar.  Participants must be 21 or over.
